Testing Our New Project - 10/03/2008:

Some of our friends were going to a track in Bowman SC, we decided to go and to bring the Z car for some test runs. What we found out was we had too much power for the little Z car. We figured it would just blister the tires. Well the little Z did what it was suppose to do and that was to hook up. The Z car and the little R200 rear end did a great job but we had too much power.

The 1st run Jerry said he was going to ease off the line which he did and then power down on it. Well it just hazed the tires and got squirrely, and he had to get off of it. Just getting use to the new engine and power.

The 2nd pass he did a better burn out and tried to launch it harder but still wanted to get crazy.

The 3rd pass I installed a throttle limiter on the engine which was almost half throttle. Still the Z car wanted to get too much air.

The 4th pass I installed a longer throttle limiter which I intended to use for burn out purposes only. It only opened the throttle about an 1/8 of an inch. Still wanted to get crazy with getting Air. We decided to call it a night. The track was getting to slick due to the dew falling.

I guess I need to find out how to cut back on some power. We are only 2% over driven and the timing is set at 28 degrees instead of 35 degrees. I richened up the idle to try to tame it down some, but as soon as you hit the throttle it is all there and them some.

I guess I can under drive the pulleys or maybe start using the retard box again and try it again. We will have to see how it goes. I plan on calling Enderle Monday to see what they suggest. I guess it is time to build a Pro Mod car to put the engine it and run the 4.60 class.

Not sure if it is worth while to attend the DNI Lite in GA October 18th, since we are over powering the Z car so much. I think it would be just a waste of fuel and money to bring the Z car since we would not be able to make any descent passes. Please check Hybrid Z to see if we will be attending or not.

Below is the Video of  all four short passes.
