Testing the Z-Car to fix Engine issue.
After SEZ #7, took about 2 days off. We still had a Great time meeting and talking to everyone, seeing all the cars run. If you are a Z car enthusiast you need to go to www.hybridz.org and this is a great site to get technical information and to chat with others. To find out more about SEZ Shootout's and information go to www.freewebs.com/sezshootout . They also have movies and photo's from prior events. After a rest, did a compression test, and a leak down test. All was fine and with in the limits. Not sure what was going on. Had fuel, had air, had compression, and had ignition. I decided to replace all ignition items. Replaced distributor, coil, msd ignition, spark plugs. Even re-did all the wiring for the ignition. Replaced the battery as well. Engine sounded good, but it sounded good before as well. Off to the track we go to do some testing. We decided to go to Midlands raceway park located in Lugoff S.C. It is a small 1/8 mile track. Just wanted to get some 60 ft. times to see where we stood. My brother Jerry went down the return road to warm up the car, on his way back he hit one good time and boy did she go. We knew after this we had fixed the issue. I am thinking the old MSD 6400 box was the problem. Below are some videos from our test passes. We did four runs. We also mounted a video camera inside the car and took 3 videos. The 1st, 2nd, and 4th pass. Ran out of film on the 3rd pass. I also took outside videos as usual, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th passes. On the 4th pass we decided to try the NOS at 20%. It popped back about a 1/4 of the run. I hope you enjoy the inside videos, they are long but worth if. You will see start to finish and back around till we park. Our 60 ft. time of the night was a 1.35, we were running low low 6.00's and on the NOS pass, even though he let out of it and back on we ran a 6.25. This was going to be a very fast pass if all would of went right. Note: I know, next time we will turn the angle of the video camera inside the car to catch the Tach.

after the 4th pass we were going to make another HP pass, cranked up the engine and I heard a strange noise coming from the blower. I think we have a bad bearing. Shut it off and loaded it up. I will have to take the blower apart and repair. It is about that time to freshen it up as well. It has been about two years or so since I purchased it.
Until next time.........................
We will be attending the SEZ #8 Shootout in March 25th of 2007.
