We rented the Dyno for most of the day. We started at 9:30am and went to about 2:30pm.I learned something that day about Dyno's they tell the truth, no more guessing or bragging what they read is what they read, other words ( Real Life ). We pulled the Z-Car in and ran two back to back pulls, with out changing anything. The runs were the same, which is good ( Consistent ). Only pulled 453 rwHP with 432 ft lbs Torque @ 6500rpm. Our Air fuel ratio was 12.5 ( Excellent ). Since we knew the carbs were set up right ( no jetting needed ) we started with timing. We went from 35 Deg. to 50 Deg. of timing. We found our sweet spot and gained 55HP. This was worth the money for the Dyno all on its own. So now we were at 518.7 rwHP with 449.3 ft lbs Torque. Since we knew what the timing needed to be set to, then we played with the NOS injection. We are using a NOS roots fogger plate system. We have it jetted to only 175HP and we are using a NOS progressive system. We only use 20% of it which is about a 35HP shot of NOS. We did 4 Dyno pulls and found we were lean on the 1st and kept increasing fuel pressure on the NOS fuel side. We found that we needed around 7.5lbs of fuel. Note: only using the NOS for a intercooler affect. It picked us up to an extra 133 HP ( using only 20% of a 175HP system). Okay now we were planning on playing with boost. Our supercharger is set up as 2% over driven which gives us 14psi of boost, I had a pulley that would put us to 8% over driven. I decided to put it on and try it. I calculate it should give us about 28psi of boost. I tried to install the pulley but neglected to trial fit it before going to the Dyno. The holes did not align up correctly so we could not try it. I could of solved the issue, but we were running out of time. We opted to try the mufflers on the Z-car, our last and final Dyno pull. The mufflers robbed us of about 15HP loss. We are planning on going back and try the smaller pulley in a couple of weeks. Below are a couple of graphs and some video's of the runs and some photos of the Dyno Pulls.
Move mouse over photo's to read details.....
Note: Take a look at the Z-car doing the pulls. We did 13 pulls all together and it was rough on the Z-car. After the 3rd pull we had a driver side rear flat, we had to fix. Then had to take it back off after repairing and re-balance it. Had to tie down the Z-car another way etc. It was a lot of work but well worth it. I want to thank Charlie Potter of CPR Performance Parts ( www.potterracing.com) for giving me a price break / good deal for letting us rent his Dyno Jet for 3/4 of the day and also Chris Tuten who was running the Dyno Jet. You can see Chris's car in Other Cars, in Friends section.
