Testing after fixing 6-71 SuperCharger.

After our mishap at the track on September 29th 2006, Took off the SuperCharger and took it to a good friend of mine Mike Bozard. Mike disassembled the supercharger and found we had a blown front seal and also a bad shaft that was pressed in one of the rotors. We decided it was best to send the supercharger off for repair. I called Doug Herbert and they recommended RBS SuperChargers. I called and spoke to JR, he was very helpful and off it went to California. I did contact SuperCharger USA but they were extremely busy and would be to much of a delay for us.

RBS SuperChargers repaired and replaced the shaft with a oversized one and replaced all bearings and seals. Had them do a little extra to the SuperCharger while they had it, added some Teflon and nylatron to the rotors for more boost.

SuperCharger arrived back in about 3 weeks, Installed and test fired the engine, brought it up to operating temperature and all seemed fine. Went ahead and upgraded the 5 point seat belt harness to new spec and added a vacuum canister to help hold vacuum for the power brake booster.

We were wanting to go back to the track but my brother Jerry had some medical issues and was hospitalized for awhile.

Well now it is 01/20/2007 and my brother Jerry is back 100% and we decided to blow off the dust from the Z-Car and head down to Jackson S.C. to Carolina Drag Way for some testing to see how it ran.

We were only able to run two passes, we noticed the engine temperature was not cooling down as usual and found that the electric water pump was not circulating water like is was supposed to do.

Below are the videos of the passes.

1st pass, racing a tube chassis big block Camaro.

2nd pass racing a tubbed out nice looking 69 Camaro.

Until next time, we will have the water pump fixed / replaced and maybe add a Moroso Vacuum pump.

We will be attending the SEZ #8 Shootout in March 25th of 2007.
