SEZ Shootout #8  March 25th 2007

Had a great time, met new friends and the Z car did well. Jon Phillips from Phillips Racing who won the Pinks episode Barney vs Phillips attended the show with both of his cars, the small tire Z and the big tire Z. It was a pleasure to meet him and talk to him about the on-goings of Pinks.

Jon gave us some valuable tips that we could do to improve our Z car performance.

Thanks again Jon........

Well we arrived at the guest hotel and met old friends and new ones. Talked a lot of shop and saw a lot of nice Z cars old and new. It was just like a big car show.

Woke up the next morning and off to the track we go. Were in hopes of some passes in the 8's  this year but it just was not going to happen. To me personally I think the track was not prepped well enough, but it was a hot day and the track was just not hooking for us along with some others.

Watch the videos carefully, especially the videos that DeJa from HybridZ took and Jerry Boatwright you can see us leaving black marks and spinning down the track.

1st pass was a 9.52 @ 142.99 mph our best one of the day. 60 ft. was a 1.39, way off from our 1.32 we usually do.

Below is the video of the 1st pass:

2nd pass was a 9.67 @ 142.72 with a 60 ft. of 1.41. We did some adjusting on our front end limiters to try to get a better 60 ft. It did not help.

Below is the video:

3rd pass was a 9.65 @ 141.61 mph with a 60 ft. of 1.40. We messed with tire pressure and went from 10 psi to 8.5 psi still did not help.

Below is the video:

4th pass tried the NOS to shock and plant the rear but did not help and also the blower sneezed hard.

Below is the video:

5th pass, changed the spark plugs to real cold plugs and tried it. Ran a 9.68 @ 142.25 mph with a 60 ft. of 1.41.

Below is the video:

6th pass, we were aggravated and tried it all, nos, tire pressure etc. still did not help. Blower also sneezed at end of track. We ran a 9.61 @ 131.38 mph with a 60 ft. of 1.40. I did not film this video, but DeJa did.

We made another pass our last one before the staging lane closed. I do not have our time for this one.

This is the video DeJa took of us:

This is the video Jerry Boatwright took of us and other cars:

Here is a pass of our friend RIP in his Zebra Z car. It is a twin turbo charged small block Chevy.

Here is a pass of our new friend Jon Phillips and his small tire Z car.

I want to thank DeJa, Jerry Boatwright, Nullbound, and Beck for the videos and pictures that were taken at SEZ#8. Also would like to thank the event staff of SEZ#8, Warren, Gabe, Scottie, and Brad.

Note: We will be attending the PINKS all OUT in Rockingham N.C. April 6th and 7th. We will be competing for the $10,000 in cash. So wish us luck with being in the 16 cars they pick.
